God made an unbreakable covenant with Israel (Genesis 12:3), promising to bless those who bless His people and curse those who oppose them. Interceding for Israel aligns us with God’s promises and purposes.
Israel is central to God’s plan for salvation. (Romans 11:26-27) Praying for Israel is participating in the unfolding of God’s promises and His plan to bring salvation to the world through His faithfulness to the Jewish people. (Ezekiel 36)
Psalm 122:6 calls us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” recognizing that Israel faces spiritual and physical battles regularly. Intercession helps protect God’s chosen people from attacks and brings divine intervention just as he did in the bible. He is the same God today, yesterday, and forever.
Isaiah 62:6-7 describes watchmen who never keep silent but pray day and night for Jerusalem’s welfare. Their prayers result in God’s favor and blessing over the land and its people.
Interceding for Israel deepens our understanding of God’s heart and strengthens the Church’s unity with the Jewish roots of our faith (Ephesians 2:14-16). It helps believers grow in faith and love.
